VDO Launches A Mobile Digital Tachograph Downloading Solution
The VDO Downloadkey II & Mobile Card Reader bundle is a new flexible solution for fleet operators and drivers to download digital data from the digital tachograph and the Driver Card. The Downloadkey II downloads and archives mass memory data from the digital tachograph while the accompanying Mobile Card Reader allows the driver to download the Driver Card data without the requirement of a Company Card.
In the UK, there is a mandatory requirement to download data from digital tachographs at least every 56 days and for the Driver Card to be downloaded at least every 28 days. This downloaded data must be available for inspection by VOSA and the Police. Peter Needham, Product Manager comments "The VDO solution is simple, flexible and secure and allows drivers to download their Driver card whilst away from base and meet their legal requirements at the same time."
The VDO Downloadkey; a market leader with sales of over 100,000 units across Europe has new features which make downloading data quicker and easier to manage. For example, the new VDO Downloadkey II features integrated software which allows the user to select different download configurations to download and archive digital tachograph and Driver Card data. This means the user can change the 'since last download' default setting to download particular dates or 'last number of days' for mass memory data or download only data blocks required by UK legislation. The VDO Downloadkey II also advises the operator when the download is complete with an acoustic signal and the LEDs visually indicate the memory capacity and operating status.
The VDO Downloadkey II does not require a separate power supply and is compatible with all makes of digital tachograph. Theunit is unique in providing a storage capacity of approximately 1,500 two monthly downloads. The unit features two interfaces; a 6 pin serial interface which plugs directly into the digital tachograph, where it automatically downloads data from the unit's mass memory and a USB 2.0 high speed interface that plugs directly into a computer and uploads data quickly and reliably. The data can be transferred to an analysis and archiving software on a PC, such as VDO TIS-Web.
The VDO Mobile Card Reader in conjunction with the Downloadkey II provides a flexible and secure way of downloading Driver Card data anytime without the need for a Company Card. The data transfer starts automatically once the Driver Card is inserted into the reader and the operating button is switched on.
The bundled price is £295 + VAT, saving £49. (The VDO Downloadkey II costs £195 + VAT and the Mobile Card Reader costs £149 + VAT). Solutions are available to purchase on-line from the VDO webshop via www.vdo.com/uk or from VDO's network of VOSA approved distributors.
