Commercial Vehicle Show 2008

Continental Automotive Trading UK Ltd (formerly Siemens VDO Trading Ltd) will be exhibiting at the Commercial Vehicle Show, NEC Birmingham, 15th-17th April 2008, Hall 6 Stand 080.

Reinforcing its position as the leading-edge of automotive innovation, Continental Automotive Trading UK Ltd will be exhibiting its portfolio of products and unveiling the new Truck SatNav and Digital Tachograph Data Solutions at this year's CV Show.

Company Background

On 5th December 2007 two innovative companies; Continental and Siemens VDO joined forces to become one of the top five automotive suppliers in the world. The Continental Corporation supplies brake systems, powertrain and chassis components, instrumentation, infotainment solutions, vehicle electronics, tyres and technical elastomers. Press Champagne Breakfast

A champagne breakfast will be provided for members of the press wishing to discover more about the new Continental division and browse the product portfolio including the new Truck SatNav and  digital tachograph data downloading solutions. The event will be held on the Continental Automotive Trading UK Ltd stand 080 in Hall 6 on Tuesday 15th April at 10.30am-11.30am.

 
 

New Truck SatNav Launch

The new VDO Dayton Truck SatNav is the first portable SatNav with truck attributes, European coverage and digital TV in a neat package. By simply entering the vehicle's attributes such as type, height, width, length, harzardous goods, weight, weight per axle etc, the route will be calculated avoiding any restrictions such as low bridges and narrow roads. There are real operational gains including reduced fuel costs, reduced vehicle wear and tear and reduced accident related costs. The systems are available with either a 5.6" widescreen display (PN6000TSN, £429.99) or a 4.3" pocket-friendly display (PN4000TSN, £349.99) and come with a voucher for the next map update free. Digital Tachograph

VDO, the tachograph market leader celebrated a milestone with the production of the one millionth Digital Tachograph DTCO 1381 in January 2008. A fully operational digital tachograph, will available at the CV Show together with digital data solutions. 

 
 

New Digital Tachograph Download Solution

In the UK, there is a mandatory requirement to download data from digital tachographs at least within every 56 days and for the driver card to be downloaded at least within every 28 days. The downloaded data must be available for inspection by VOSA and the police. The new VDO Downloadkey II and Mobile Chart Reader provides a flexible and secure way for fleet operators and drivers to download and archive digital tachograph data. The Downloadkey II is a straightforward solution for downloading and archiving mass memory data from all makes of digital tachograph and then easily transferring to a PC. The accompanying Mobile Chart Reader allows the driver to download driver card data without the requirement of a Company Card. Price £295 + VAT.

 
 

TIS-Web On-line Tachograph Analysis

TIS-Web is an on-line tachograph archiving and analysis service which is suitable for maintaining records under both the Working Time Directive and Drivers' Hours legislation. The solution is suitable for all sizes of operations because it offers a simple, secure and cost-effective means of analogue and digital data management from just £40 per driver per year. A fully operational display of TIS-Web will be available at the show together with details of an exclusive  free trial of the TIS-Web covering one driver for one year.

 
 

Replacement Parts

The range of original brand replacement parts for the independent aftermarket is growing. Independent stockists now have full and unrestricted access to the range of engine management sensors, actuators, fuel sensors and washer systems. Recent products to compliment the product portfolio include diesel repair parts and a diagnostic system.

 
 

Engine Control Systems

The range of vehicles requiring a road speed limiter widened from 1st January 2008. The  European Union legislation governing the compulsory maximum speeds of commercial vehicles over 3.5t gross vehicle weight means that some new goods and passenger-carrying vehicles must now be fitted with a road-speed limiter.  VDO Pedal Interface II is a new generation speed control system which provides a solution both for OEM and retrofitting applications.  Pedal Interface II also offers cruise control.

 
 

Instrumentation

The VDO Viewline instrumentation range is a new generation of plug and play solutions for panel and flush mounting. With modular solutions in three housing variants, VDO supply more functions, more flexible installation and design options and space-saving possibilities. Viewline is available with a variety of different input characteristics and can display multiple functions and warnings on the same combi-instrument.

 
 

Audio

VDO Dayton offers a range of head units with innovative features including Bluetooth, iPod connection and MP3. The range includes a 24 volt CD player is ideal for commercial vehicles.
